Clock Maker/Builder

Climate Clock is seeking a maker/builder/jack of all trades in NYC area to help get our portable “action clocks” built and in the hands of activists around the world! We have a big push for Earth day April 22 and Climate Emergency Day July 22.

Don’t worry if you don’t have every skill listed, if you’re good with your hands, tech savvy, and have other skills on the list — go ahead and apply! Most important is your ability and desire to pickup new skills quickly!

About: Climate Clock is an innovative cross section of art, science, activism and tech. Using bespoke electronics, we’ve made the existential threat of climate crisis fit artfully into the halls of power and in the streets of grassroots power, to carry a message of climate urgency everywhere. Our clocks are in use all over the world, from the desks of Presidents to the hands of activists, from museums to state houses to concert stages.

You’ll be part of: A global effort to ensure that “the most important number in the world” is at the forefront of climate decision-making, from the grassroots to those in positions of power.

Time frame/commitment: Part time. Short term/seasonal. HIRING IMMEDIATELY

Location: BROOKLYN, NY

Compensation: Volunteer or $15-$30hr depending on experience.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Woodworking experience

  • Electronics/soldering experience

  • Tech savvy problem solver. Not afraid of spreadsheets or terminal command lines.

  • Maker/builder savvy problem solver.

Bonus:

  • 3D Printing

  • 3D design

  • PCB design

  • Experience or serious interest in becoming more familiar with hardware engineering

  • Intimately familiar and confident in Python (bonus points for CircuitPython)

  • Great eye for visual design and UX.

  • Able to volunteer, but stipend is available based on experience and level of commitment.
